One World Coders Community 1.0 Launches in Rwanda.
Today, we are excited to announce the official launch of the One World Coders Community 1.0 in Kigali, Rwanda. The Technology ecosystem in Rwanda is quite young and fast emerging, and we as One World Coders are committed to continuing to grow the technology community specifically targeted at helping the young technology enthusiasts, by building a platform where young technology enthusiasts can network with what to do in a Tech Ecosystem, and also create a pipeline to enable them to learn from Experts and advocators in technology.
One World Coders is software development that crosses borders. We are a remote software consulting firm with teams based in the US and Africa. We provide remote augmentation, project management, and training in cross-cultural communication for software teams. We are aware that the knowledge that exists between the expert developer and the learner is bridged and that is why building a community is paramount for us as a company, especially here in Rwanda.
To this effect, we have outlined various channels through which we will ensure consistent and continuous engagement with the members of our community.
OWC community slack channel - We have created a dedicated slack channel in our organisation’s account, where we will add young technology enthusiasts who are interested in being part of our community. This channel will serve as a medium of interaction amongst our community members, it will also serve as a forum for the quick relay of information involving community-related activities, such as information about meet-ups, recruitment opportunities, hackathons, hangouts and more. Access to resources and capabilities.
Remote and On-site Meet-ups - We will organise remote zoom meet-ups which will be aired live via our social media channels, as well as onsite meet-ups in convenient locations around Kigali city. These meet-ups will serve as an educational and networking session for our community members, where Industry experts from around the world will be invited to speak and demonstrate on technology-related topics.
Hackathons - We will organise hackathons in partnership with various organisations across different sectors, where community members will team up in groups to build solutions that have the potential of solving a problem relating to a particular sector. The best solution from the hackathon will have the potential of receiving sponsorship.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our flagship meet-up event will be fully-remote, it will be held via Zoom on May 29th, 2019. This event will be aired live via our social channels and will have a line-up of 5 tech experts, who will be speaking from Kigali, Lagos, Berlin, and Chicago. Further details about this event will be shared on our social channels in the coming days. Anyone interested in being a part of the One World coders community should send an email stating their interest to henryokonkwo@oneworldcoders.com, so they can get invited to the One World Coders community slack channel.
